ICPC welcomes a new international member

The ICPC is proud to announce that a new member has joined its network, which is the IECRIMT, Instituto de Estudios Criminológicos Transdisciplinarios (Institute of Transdisciplinary Criminological Studies). For IECRIMT, it is extremely important to collaborate with institutes, centres and universities that address criminology and safety issues. In this sense, it is important to recognize the relevance of the exchange of information, reflections and experiences between our two entities, which will allow the improvement of practices and public policies in the field of crime prevention, thus enriching the work of each.  

About the Instituto d’Estudios Criminológicos Transdisciplinarios (Institute of Transdisciplinary Criminological Studies) (IECRIMT)  

IECRIMT specializes in the social prevention of violence and crime. This institute, founded in Mexico City in 2014, was created by prestigious academics with years of experience in the field, recognizing that the problems of security, violence and crime are clearly marked by the structural characteristics of today’s societies. 

A new intern at the ICPC

In early January, the ICPC welcomed a new member to its team: Mavrick Langlois.

Mavrick, Research Assistant Intern, is currently in his third and last year of a bachelor’s degree in Criminology at the Université de Montréal, Analysis profile. He has experience as a research assistant from the International Centre for Comparative Criminology and also works part time as a case management assistant at the Société de criminology du Québec. As part of his internship, he will work on violence prevention in a school environment. Welcome Mavrick!

New employees join ICPC team

At the beginning of July, we welcomed two new employees to the ICPC: Melissa Champagne and Sonia Ouimet.

Melissa, research assistant, holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology, intervention profile, from the Université de Montréal and is currently completing a master’s in criminology in criminological analysis. She is doing her master’s project on the effects of the pandemic on police interrogation results.

Sonia, research assistant intern, is doing a master’s with thesis in criminology at the Université de Montréal. She has worked in halfway houses with people with criminal records and with the Montreal CAVAC team working on sexual exploitation.

They will mainly be working on a criminality report for the city of Montreal and on supporting the ICPC’s technical assistance projects. Welcome!
